Rat
Sign:
The Rat is the sign of charm
Basic Character:
The Rat individual is industrious with a strong sense of family
responsibility. The rat is intelligent but not in the bookish sense,
for here is the successful entrepreneur or perhaps a captain in
industry. The Rat has immense drive and stamina: a perfectionist.
A Rat also tends to be overawed by class differences, particularly
when the Rat is at the lower end of the scale. In spite of their drive
and industry, the humility of Rats warrants recognition for they are
very outgoing and generous people. Although it is classically
believe this is true on account of the Rat's outgoing nature.
The Rat by his industry and hard work also offers good pickings to
thieves: the year of the Rat may therefore show an increase in the
crime rate. In tune with the over-prolificness of the Rat, there
could well be a rise in the birth rate in a Rat year. The overview is
that there will be increased productivity in every field of human
endeavour in a Rat year.
The Rat lover:
Rats are able to control their feelings and will generally present a
cool facade to the outside world, regardless of whatever volcanic
emotions they may be feeling inside. But these are passionate
creatures whose feelings can be deeply stirred and though able to
control them as a rule, when the volcano does erupt, watch out!
Perhaps one of their faults is their inability to actually talk about
their feelings to those they love, and consequently they tend to
repress them - thus adding to the volcanic pressure. As well as
being deeply passionate these are sensual creatures who simply
exude sexuality and who greatly enjoy all forms of physical
stimulation. The Rat parent: Rats make good, warm-hearted,
spontaneous parents. They have plenty of wit and good explosive
problem. Because Rats are so broad-minded, they tend to favour as
wide and as liberal an education for children as possible.
Adventurous themselves, they enjoy joining in their offsprings'
imaginative games, encouraging both mental and physical
exploration. But there are times when the Rat's keen mental
powers will lose patience if their display a lazy mind or are
disinterested academically; then the Rat's short-temper will
explode.
The Rat child:
Childhood for the young Rat is perhaps the happiest time of their
life. From a very early age they will show an aptitude for sports
and games and a love for the outdoor life. As children they are
inquisitive and consequently eager to learn, to explore their
environment, and expand their awareness. At school, Rat children
may excel in languages and if they are academic and choose to go
on to higher education, chances are they will choose humanities or
literature studies. Generally speaking, this group make keen
students who are always ready to pick up new skills.
Health:
Rats are wiry and tenacious and never give in to ill-health. If they
are ever ill, they will simply fight their way back to health again.
People born under this influence need to watch their sweet tooth or
they may put on weight. Old age seems to be a time of peace and
contentment for this group but, ominously, according to legend
rats tend to die a sudden death. Careers, hobbles and pastimes:
Writing, acting, music, arts and handicrafts, anything to do with
the theatre, sports and travel.
Compatibility:
The Rat is naturally attracted to the hard-working Ox, the loyal
Dragon and the security-conscious Snake. He delights in the
versatility and escapades of the Monkey and can have successful
relationships with the Tiger, the Boar, or another Rat. Rats and
Horses rarely get along unless there are mitigating features in the
charts of the individuals involved. The Horse is too changeable and
selfish for the clannish, conservative Rat. Alliances with Roosters
are equally unwise; they are too dramatic and impractical for the
Rat, who can see through their act need for affection. Sheep will
spend the Rat's money on frivolities and the Rat may suspect the
Sheep will treat his affections with and equally open-handed
aplomb.
