Dragon
The Dragon Sign:
The Dragon is the sign of luck and good fortune.
Basic Character:
The people of a dragon year have the gifts of resourcefulness and
initiative, plus a little magic indefinable something. They are
something of a paradox too, whether outgoing by nature or not. To a
contemplative mind is added a mental flamboyance which can
however restrain and discipline the imagination. The paradox is
carried further for the contemplative dragon can also become a front-
runner physically with no functional diminution either way. Inclined to
be over sympathetic, the dragon can sometimes be conned by
tricksters: one or two sharp lessons are generally enough for
there after the biter gets bit. Exceedingly forgiving, the dragon rarely
harbours resentment, but when he/she does, then beware! Mental
alertness is every dragon's birthright. Dragon get on with most animal
groups with perhaps some differences with ox-people who like
dragons can tend to be stubborn, or alternatively, with another
dragon where there could well be a dragon confrontation of "dragon
stand-off". It would be well to remember that an angry dragon does
not and indeed should not tackle a serpent on the latter*s home
ground.
The Dragon lover:
There are two types of dragon lovers: those who fall in love and
commit themselves to a serious relationship when they are fairly
young, and those who tend to be loners and perhaps never marry at
all. In general, the former enjoy a stable and satisfactory married life
whilst the latter flit from one love affair to another, never really giving
any of them a chance to develop. Indeed, many committed bachelors
and spinsters are born under the influence of this sign. In any
partnership Dragon folk will first and foremost be seeking and
intellectual rapport for these people get as from having sex. And, of
course, they bring to any relationship their own inimitable touch of
magic and that Dragon element of good fortune But the male Dragon
is perhaps happier in love than his female counterpart, for this, being
a strongly masculine sign, often produces dominant women who tend
to take over the relationship and rather blindly tread all over the
sensitivities of their partners.
The Dragon Parent:
Parenting does not come naturally to this group.Work seems to take
up such a lot of the Dragon's time and energy that many don't marry
at all and don't find the time to start a family. Those who do have
children, however, have a strong sense of duty and responsibility
towards them and, true to their nature, make generous mothers and
fathers. Perhaps, though, that generosity is given more in material
terms rather than giving of themselves or of their time to their
youngsters.
The Dragon Child:
Dragon children are often lonely youngsters, withdrawn and as a result
may be misunderstood. Many take time to find their feet and simply
lack self-confidence during their early years. But they possess
wonderful imaginations and should be gently encouraged to believe in
themselves and in their many gifts and talents. On the other hand,
with the right backing, with praise and with positive guidance little
Dragon can shine. Indeed, of one were to take a count, it would be
astonishing to find how many child stars come from this category-
Shirley Temple, the young Yehudi Menuhin and our own Bonnie
Langford, to name but three. The more independent Dragons seem to
be born with an old head on their young shoulders and will appreciate
being given responsibility and treated like and adult even from a very
early age.
Health:
In general, it is said that Dragon-born individuals enjoy a long life.
Compatibility:
The Dragon makes the best match with the irresistible.Monkey because
he is drawn to Monkey charm and cleverness.Monkeys do well to pair
up with the Dragon; no matter howintriguing, integrity is not
necessarily a Monkey forte unless there are mitigating influences in
the chart. Dragons provide drama and add stability to the crafty
business sense of the Rat. Snakes and Dragons appreciate each other.
Snake provide restraint and levelheadedness in a way that can keep
the natural Dragon excessiveness in check. All signs seek out the
Dragon for his beauty and strength. Surprisingly, even two Dragons
can get along well. Oxen are too methodical and Dogs should be
avoided at all costs because, with their intellect and cynicism, they
tend to snap at the Dragon's wings.
